two days after my 34th birthday in september. i went to target aimed straight to electronics. i was going about my business enjoying. looking. and most importantly trying to remain focus-as we all know target can become very pricey.

then it hit me. i heard it. i felt it. i saw a pregnant lady in the baby section looking at cuties for her soon to be cutie. i had this flash of envy. sadness. wantness {is that even a word?}

like a dogs nose with heighten senses, i became aware of every baby and soon to be mommy in the store. could my biological clock really be ticking at the age of 34?

while i do have a knack for the ol' magical thinking-i couldn't shake this feeling i had of oh shit. i just turned 34 the hubs is 37- no babies. ever. final. end of story.

fast forward: 1 month later

sitting in the dr's chair waiting for him to walk thru the door so we can catch up on life and the next step for lucy the liver. he walks in starts to talk. i feel the pinch on the top of my nose. the hit of panic in my stomach. eyes start to water.

i'm going to cry. lame.

"dr..hiccup/sob..i just turned 34 and we want a baby now. i know i said we didn't want one. we want to start trying . swallow. breath."

i'm surprised at that point he didn't give me a xanex. while he is not the most comforting soul-he is frank and and to the point. i can appreciate that. he explained how wonderful my monthly labs have been. and sure let's wait until your next biopsy-i imagine it will be fine then we can start to take you off the meds {i take meds to reduce my immune system so my body does not attack my liver-sounds major. but really i feel fine}

it was sunny and brisk when i walked into the dr's office in april. i wore my yellow sweater that i love. it reminds me of the sun. i was taken back to the room. dr talked. talked about my liver biopsy results. grade. scarring. labs. yadda...yadda. all i wanted to hear was we will start to take you off your meds. you can start to work on having a baby. maybe a boy with Irish green eyes like your husband. or a little girl you can put braids in her hair.

my heart and my ears never heard it. what we heard were the meds is what helps keep my immune system in check. new studies. last time we tried to get off all meds and trust your immune system would help lucy the liver it didn't. it betrayed her. let's keep you on your meds. keep you healthy. i think i heard the word adoption. i was proud i didn't cry this time.

i did however cry when i got in my car. heartache. that's only way i could really describe it. i felt alone. looking back the feelings mimic the experience of a first crush. the excitement. anticipation. day dream hopes. the let down.

sure we can get a second opinion. adopt. but we are not. i don't want to. can't. i feel like a two year old throwing a fit. it didn't turn out the way i planned.

when i came home that september morning from target. the hubs and i agreed we would try this out. we dubbed it the hail mary. give it one true shot. it didn't work and that's the end of that story. i'm sure i'll be a momma in my next life.

i also know it's not the end of the world and i will be ok. i know i have a wonderful supportive husband. a solid network of the truest girlfriends and a positive outlook on this life.

i could probably babble about this more. but it's time i move on. seal this experience away in this time capsule i call a blog and check on the kids-who are probably just barking at the wind.

i've shamefully been listening to that one station that plays christmas music around the clock. i've had private duo's with singers ranging from karen carpenter to bruce spingsten in the privacy of my own car. i doubt you have seen me singing - i usually put a sock in it when i see a car next to me on the freeway or stop light. so quick i am.

amongst all the christmas songs, THIS has to be the most savviest, sweetest,classiest of them all. yes i heard it on glee. but it just didn't sound the same.

i'm kinda into dean martin at the moment. i stayed up late one night and watched a infomerical about him {santa will you please bring me cable?}

i think i'm done rambling now. i'm going to stare at the twinkle christmas lights in our room until i drift off to sleep.

hi-your book was so heart wrenching. why do i torture myself? idk. i opened you only to read a few pages and was awake until nearly 1:00 am {5 am came way too fast}

i just couldn't put you down. i had to find out what happened to you and savannah {insert broken heart here}

but john, i must tell you: while i felt the burn and noticed the puddle on my chest from my tears rolling down while reading the last few pages.

it made me realize more than ever that i am loved. i am the hubs savannah.{ i see it in his eyes}. i am his one and only true love. i know this because{fat girl alert} he always gives me the last bites of his meals.

and when i did realize this. the burn stayed a little longer and tears came down a little faster..

i feel the need for a update.
{yikes} really

i don't plan these unexpected blog breaks.

life has been trucking along very well with no bumps.
work has kept me busy with a new social life i might add. at the moment my sewing machine is not talking to me. {she said she feels neglected} i still look at my beloved blogs everyday as it has now replaced the local paper. i rather see pretty colors on fabrics and crafty ideas first thing in the morning then read about world woes.

i'm just about 2 weeks shy of my 34th birthday and have noticed a stronger ache in my stomach from time to time when i see people my age with their children..older children {where did the time go?}. i think that need and want for children will sneak up from time to time. and thats ok. when i told the hubs about my feelings{during a hug} he says with a ease and laughter combined with a little empathy "well i guess it's time we get another dog". i laughed, swallowed the lump in my throat and sunk my head in between his neck and shoulder{my favorite spot}. eva.

speaking of needs and wants..i need these boots. aren't they delicious. i want to wear them with old faded jeans, sweatshirt, and bangle bracelet's. i want to walk down the street in pescadero hand in hand with the hubs and go to durate's restaurant to eat clam chowder.

today i had a photo shoot with my swatch watch. this watch was so rad -bummer- part of the wrist band broke off .

when i was 12 i saved all my babysitting money so i could buy this bad boy.

speaking of boy....it's a boy watch. i remember looking at all the girl swatch watches at the counter and thinking they were all too girly.

at the time i was really into inxs (my fav song ever -never tear us apart)
in my mind this watch was inxs.

it was the little folks and the drummer on the wristband that sold me. but amidst the photo shoot-i had a idea...ding
and this was a no make up day-i HAD to black and white this photo
i used the background fabric that was a old pillow case from the thrift store
and made my first ever clutchy purse.

ps-this american life---ummm...i will never look at a toilet the same way again.

by no means am i a dead head. i mean really. the folks who are true dead heads have earned the title. me. i have not. the closest i've ever got going to a concert was when i was in high school. the hubs (boyfriend then)and i went to the oakland coliseum to the parking lot where the dead were playing.

sure, everyone was high as a kite-but all was well.
it was great.

i stood there in my birk's and looked at the coliseum. i could see the glow and could hear the music. oh that lovely music. it was a pretty amazing experience.

ughm..no, i wasn't high. i was sober. friends, that's why i could remember some of this stuff.

so...today when i fished out a case less cd.

i was happy to see it was the grateful dead.

i listened to scarlet begonias on my way to and from work.

my last weekend of freedom ended with a bang.

friday the plan was to go to the movies to watch hot tub time machine-we didn't make it.

we ended up at a bar/restaurant talking to a nice old man who was with his son and daughter -in-law.

they took him out of the nursing home for the the weekend for a change of scenery (alzheimer's

is clawing at his memory)

this man, a retired police officer just lost his wife. they were married for years. i asked him the question i ask all folks "what is the secert to a successful marriage?" (i'm obsessed with this question)-we looked into his very very thin lined blue eyes and listened.

"couresty-you have to be courteous to one another-you need to listen to each other-but mosty

be courteous".

interestesting i thought to myself.

drinks were fueling our conversations. it sucked when i traded in my one glass of wine for a shirley temple (drink of choice). but i knew it would make lucy 'oh so happy.

saturday morning mirrored friday evening's energy.

a crew that consisted of mom's, aunts, cousins, and one golden grandma was assembled to tackle the estate sales that were posted in the local paper.

it's so weird to walk into someones home and look thru their stuff.

i keep thinking to myself....

i'm helping the family

maybe they need money?

my aunts and mom always bee line it to the kitchen area. while i look for sewing and clothing treasures.

ok... so friends you can only imagine my blissful surprise when i spotted this beauty.

first my eyes caught the colors of these delicate flowers

and the very fine fabric

i felt the texture of the embroidery

and then soaked in the sweetness of the dress itself.

with a bang i bee lined it to the pay line

passing up the crew that was in the kitchen area.

i may need to wear this dress paired with a jean jacket to the next "movie" night.

dear hubs,

another one of our friends have decided to end their marriage. it makes me sad and frankly scared- they have been married as long as we have and they have kiddo's of their own.

today i was successful not once but twice in providing excellent educational circle time activities for 18 preschool children .....15 of them being smelly little boys.

this is a milestone people.

there was no hitting, no screaming, no behaviors
just good ol' fashion fun
singing, dancing, talks about the letter E, and how plants grow.

wow.

i'd like to think their starting to love their teacher.

when was the last time you had an ah ha moment?

i had one today.

when i have these moments my eyes get big, eyebrows might raise a little, and they usually make me laugh.

the other moments make me sigh then slouch my shoulders until what seems like reaches down to the very pit of my stomach.

this ah ha moment started out the less desired way...you know...it reached down to the pit of my stomach.

but ended (hours later) the better way and made me not so much laugh but chuckle.

it put things into prospective.

confession/vent/pity party

i've been dragging my feet. the word blood has appeared on my calendar twice with this sign !next to it. i haven't gone to get my liver enzymes checked. i don't want to. remember how it zapes my vibe? i don't feel sick. believe me i know the signs. super fatigue, the taste as if i was sucking on a penny, and loss of appetite. i haven't felt any of that. knock on wood. last year in the month of january i was swallowing 15 pills a day. 15 folks! all of the pills you see in my hand i took morning and night. it was such a hard time. i cried alot in the shower. this disease just makes me angry sometimes. it's already taken my ability/desire away to be a mommy, enjoy a cocktail with ease with my besties & hubs and oh how i miss the days of waking up and not having to take any sort of pills. for the past 3 months i've only been on 1 immune suppressant drug...cellcept. have you heard of it? i've been off predisone for 3 months. and everything is starting to become so much clearer. it's so hard to explain. it just feels better. that's why i'm scared. because if they find my enzymes are elevated-they sound the alarm and i'm back on predisone. there's no "let's give it another week, to see if it goes down"(we've tried that before). it's "get it under control before it gets out of control". it's like a war.

time to go to my happy place(work)- tomorrow i'll get my blood drawn. promise.
